Sweden based QICA made her entrance on the music scene in 2018 with her debut single WäGNER/WaGNER. A song that touches on social issues and relates to QICA’s own experiences and reflections on the world.
It’s message:
”Don’t take it for granted. The ones before you have fought. The future is not constant. We, struggle. But this life is yours. Stand up! And I will stand up for you too.”
QICA explains; “I believe that we continuously need to fight for equality and against polarisation and discrimination, to make the world a better place and to make sure that what we’ve worked to achieve isn’t lost and that we keep taking steps forward. Love conquers hate, and at the end of the day we are human beings”.
A few months after the release, the music video was shot.
QICA’s voice has been described as warm, heartfelt and sensual, with a feeling of inherent strength. Like she feels rooted and her voice playfully finds new paths to travel on.
In March 2019 QICA released RIGHT HERE, her second single, which is a “sexy and smooth RnB track” (to quote Andy Collins, Scandinaviansoul.com), that shows another side of her personality. The song expresses someones total and complete emotional devotion to another person. For WäGNER/WaGNER, RIGHT HERE and QICA’s third single WOMEN’S PROBLEMS she worked with music producer Martin Gidekull. With WOMEN’S PROBLEMS QICA went back to reflect on social issues. She had read the book “Mellan raderna: en bok om att vara kvinna och journalist” written by Jenny Nordlander (Eng free translation: Between the lines: a book about being woman and journalist), and was inspired to write the song. In December 2019 QICA releasing TRUST ME unannounced. A catchy acoustic track about asking for trust from someone you’ve let down.
In 2019 QICA performed at HX Festival, was a guest at P3 Din Gata and P4 Malmöhus.
In 2020 QICA release new music and reached out to fans mostly through digital plattforms. She joined Generation W in September on their Digital Live performance Festival showcasing her released music, and before the Covid-19 restrictions she performed with WäGNER/WaGNER at Fadimegalan, Berns Salonger STHLM/SWE and invited her fans to an intimate 1 hour concert in collaboration with “Jag var där”, Dunkers Kulturhus HBG/SWE. At the end of the year she released NO SENSE on Nov. 6, a propulsive track. Watch the NO SENSE Music Video here.
In Feb. 2021 QICA received the award for “Årets Nöjespersonlighet 2020”/Entertainment Personality 2020 by Nöjesnytt in her hometown Helsingborg for her ability to reach out to fans despite the Covid-19 situation. In Aug. 2021 QICA performed at PRIDE in Helsingborg.
During the pandemic QICA worked on a song that was written even before WaGNER but never released. ”I’m happy to finally release EASY, a little secret I’ve been keeping and wanting to release for quite some time”, QICA says. With the help of music engineer Hardy Hooks QICA re-recorded and made changes to the arrangement and released EASY in May 2022. The sitar in the chorus flirt with QICA’s Indian roots. A collaboration with Dj’s Földes and Marc Ross in May 20th, allowed QICA to reach new audiences with the House track Young and Happy. It was streamed over 12 k times (Spotify) in the first days after it’s release. In July 15th QICA released two new singles, for the first time, in Swedish. HEMLIGHET(eng. secret) and TRYGG(eng. safe).
In 2023 QICA has played different scenes, and teamed up with World Ocean Week and creator Elin Gärdenfors at designdojo.se to help raise awareness on Microplastics and climate change. To make a statement QICA (with the help of Elin), made a dress out of a plastic bag and construction spill, and wore it to a couple of her gigs leading up to the event concluding the World Ocean Week in Helsingborg Harbour, Pixlapiren where it was set up. Their collaboration will continue through 2024. In November 2023 QICA was invited by GIGMIT (an online plattform for live music bookings with over 200 000 artists and över 10 000 promoters) to be one of the speakers at their Online Green Performance Workshop talking about how to be a more sustainable artist, sharing her initiatives and thoughts.
